Nine to start. Eight at a push. Seven and it's a forfeit.
In the Swiss regional leagues you can start with eight, but not with seven. Find out who's coming while there's still time to find a ninth, then give everyone a position.

Ten spots on the list. Nine on the field.
Every position by name, from pitcher to designated hitter, so each player has theirs for the game.
Battery
Pitcher and catcher. The pitcher gets a pitching line of their own.
Infield
First, second and third base, and shortstop.
Outfield
Left, centre and right field.
Designated hitter
Bats without fielding. It has a position of its own, so the tenth name has somewhere to go.

Batting average is worked out for you from hits and at-bats. Innings pitched add up in thirds, the way a scorer writes them.
Years of club baseball, and the only record of your best day is how often you tell it?
A four-hit day deserves a record.
Baseball moments, from a four-hit day to fifty career home runs. When milestones go live, each one will land in the team feed and on the profile.
A pitcher's line, a batter's line, and innings in thirds.
Baseball keeps a lot of numbers, and each one has an owner. Here is what benchli keeps, and what it doesn't yet.
Already in the lineup
- Ten positions, pitcher to designated hitter. The DH has a place of its own, because it bats and doesn't field.
- Innings pitched in thirds. 6.2 is six and two-thirds, 6.3 is refused, and 0.2 plus 0.2 adds up to 1.1.
- Batting average from hits and at-bats, worked out again from the season totals. A one-at-bat game doesn't weigh like a four-at-bat one.
- A pitcher's line apart from the batter's: innings, hits allowed, earned runs, walks, strikeouts and pitches thrown. A batter's strikeouts count against him; a pitcher's don't.
- Headings as the sheet reads them: Batting, Baserunning, Pitching and Fielding, with hits under Batting.
- A match squad can be as small as eight, because the 1st and 2nd league let you start with eight.
Still in the bullpen
- A batting order. The lineup lists positions, not who bats where, so the designated hitter has no slot in the order.
- An inning-by-inning line score, with hits and errors. A result goes in as the final score only.
- Pitch counts checked against your league's limits and rest days. benchli records the pitches; it doesn't check them.
- Earned run average. Innings and earned runs are recorded; the average isn't worked out.
- Runs allowed, pitcher wins and losses, saves and complete games. The no-hitter and the perfect game wait on the same numbers.

Common questions
Does benchli replace our scoresheet?
No. Keep scoring the game the way your league requires, and keep reporting the result as you do now. benchli takes the final score and each player's totals, and keeps them on the player's record.
Can we start a game with eight?
benchli's smallest match squad is eight. In the Swiss 1st and 2nd league the federation lets a team start with eight and takes an automatic out for the empty lineup slot; with only five to seven of your own players it is a forfeit, unless the other side lends you some. The automatic out stays with your scorer.
Seven innings or nine?
A result goes in as runs for each side, so the length of the game doesn't change how you enter it. benchli assumes nine innings as the standard; a seven-inning format for the regional leagues isn't built in yet.
Which averages does benchli work out?
Batting average, from hits and at-bats, added up across the season. Earned run average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage aren't worked out yet.
Does it track pitch counts?
It records the pitches thrown for each pitcher. It doesn't check them against your league's limits or work out rest days.
What about rain, and games that end level?
A rained-off game can be cancelled. Marking one suspended and finishing it at the next meeting isn't possible yet. A level score is saved as a draw, which suits a friendly but not a league game.
