For amateur football teams

Twenty in the group chat. Eleven on the pitch.

And you're the one picking which eleven. See who's actually free, name the squad with everyone's position, and stop running the club from a thread with 200 unread.

Matchweek, Tuesday to Sunday.

Football runs on a weekly rhythm. So does the admin.

Tuesday

Session or rondos?

Fourteen coming means a proper session. Five means rondos and a jog. Know which before you drag the ball bag out.

Thursday

Who's free on Sunday?

The answers are in by Thursday, not at quarter to ten by the corner flag.

Friday

Name the squad

Keeper to striker, everyone with their position, seen by the whole team before they've packed their boots.

Sunday

After the final whistle

Score first. With Pro, add who scored and who set it up. Done before the showers run cold.

My Stats for a football player: 8 games, 2 G, 4 A, 2 YC, 5 shots on target, 14 shots and 13 TKL
On the teamsheet

Fifteen positions. Not one generic stat box.

Your centre back may never score, but they win the ball back every week. Tackles and interceptions for the ones who do the dirty work, clean sheets for the one in gloves.

Coming soon

Years of Sunday football and nothing to show for it but a dodgy hamstring?

A hat trick deserves a record.

The brace you'll hear about all season, the clean sheet nobody noticed: when milestones go live, benchli will catch both after the match and put them in front of the whole squad. From your first game to a perfect season.

The football notebook

It starts with fifteen positions, not three.

"Defender, midfielder, forward" isn't how anyone who plays talks about a team. Here's what we built in, and what we'd rather admit than fake.

Already on the pitch

  • Fifteen positions, wing-backs and wide midfielders included, not just defender, midfielder and forward.
  • Three points for a win, one for a draw, with goal difference and your last five results on the team's standings.
  • Own goals have their own stat, kept apart from goals scored.
  • The clean sheet belongs to the keeper, not to a footnote on the result.
  • Passes attempted and completed, with the accuracy worked out for you.
  • We don't celebrate cards. They're recorded; they're not milestones.

Still on the training ground

  • A starting eleven and a bench, rather than one squad list.
  • Extra time and penalty shoot-outs, for the cup tie that needs a winner.
  • Penalty goals and penalty saves, for the keeper who guessed right.
  • Minutes played, for the ever-present who never misses a game.
  • Small-sided football and futsal as their own formats.
  • How each goal was scored (left foot, right foot, header, free kick), for the perfect hat trick.

Overheard at the clubhouse bar.

Is it set up for 11-a-side?

Yes. Football on benchli is 11-a-side, with match squads of 7 to 23 players. There's no separate small-sided or futsal format yet.

Can I set our formation?

You pick the squad and give everyone their position. Formations and a starting eleven versus the bench aren't there yet.

Can I use wing-backs and wide midfielders?

Yes. There are fifteen positions, including left and right wing-back, left and right midfield and centre forward, alongside keeper, the back three, central midfield and the wingers.

Does a draw count properly?

Yes. Wins, draws and losses all go on the season record, and the standings give three points for a win and one for a draw.

Does a cup tie with extra time and penalties work?

Not yet. benchli records the score, and a level score is a draw. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs aren't recorded.

We run a first team and a second team. Does that work?

Yes. Each is its own team with its own squad, schedule and plan, and a player can be in both with one profile.

Sorted before Sunday.

Send the link on Monday. Have your eleven by Thursday.
