For club cricket

It's a whole Saturday. You need eleven who can give it.

Find out who's free well before the toss, name the side with every player's role, and keep the season's runs and wickets where the whole club can see them.

Everything in Pro for 14 days. No card needed. Runs in any browser, phone included.

Your scorer does the ball by ball. benchli does the rest.

Every delivery, the live scorecard, the wagon wheel, the rain rules. Keep using whatever you use now.

benchli

Everything around the match: who's available, who's playing and in what role, the fixtures, the result, and each player's totals for the season and beyond.

From availability to the scorebook.

XI

Name the side

Pick the eleven from a squad of up to fifteen, and give each player their role: opener, keeper, spinner, all-rounder.

Who can give the day?

A long match needs a firm answer. Set a reply deadline and see the maybes by Wednesday, not at the ground.

Home or away, which ground

The fixture, the venue and the start time in one place, so nobody turns up at the wrong oval.

The numbers, on record

Runs for each side, then each player's match totals: runs, balls, wickets, catches.

In the book

The scorebook, on every player's record.

Bat, ball and gloves. The match totals that matter, added up across the season.

Strike rate and economy are worked out for you. Overs add up the cricket way, six balls to the over, so 0.5 and 0.3 make 1.2.

Coming soon

Twenty summers of Saturday cricket, and the only record is a scorebook in someone's kit bag?

A hundred deserves a record.

Nobody forgets their first fifty. benchli will make sure the rest of the club doesn't either: each milestone will be announced in the team feed after the match and stay on the player's profile. Cricket moments of their own, plus a career runs ladder from 100 up to 1,000.

NotableFiftyRaise the bat. Fifty in an innings.
RareFive-wicket haulThe fifer. Lead the side off.
RareCenturyA hundred. The one they'll still mention at the AGM.
LegendaryCentury and five-forA hundred with the bat and five wickets with the ball, in one match.
  • NotableFifty, Four-for, Maiden over, 100 career wickets, and 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 career runs.
  • RareCentury, Nelson (exactly 111), Five-wicket haul, Fifty and five-for, Keeper's five dismissals, Perfect season.
  • LegendaryDouble century, Century and five-for, Ten wickets in a match, 1,000 runs in a season.
The cricket notebook

Roles, not positions. Columns, like the book.

Cricket isn't a goals-and-positions game, so benchli doesn't treat it like one. What's in, and what we haven't got to yet.

Already in the book

  • Seven roles, from opening batter to pace bowler, with the keeper as a role of its own.
  • Overs counted the way cricket counts them: six balls to the over, so 0.5 and 0.3 make 1.2, and a 3.7 is refused. Economy is worked out on the real overs.
  • Season and career strike rate come from total runs over total balls, not an average of match rates, so a nine-ball cameo can't flatter it.
  • Maidens and dot balls, because a tight spell matters as much as the wickets.
  • Stumpings and byes for the keeper, who does two jobs and rarely gets credit for either.
  • A player's card laid out in scorebook order: batting, bowling, then fielding.

Still in the nets

  • Ties and no-results. A result goes in as runs for each side, and level scores read as a draw.
  • Winning margins the cricket way, by runs or by wickets.
  • Not-outs, run-outs, wides and no-balls, so a batting or bowling average means what it should.
  • Your league's overs format built in, whether that's 45, 40 or T10.
  • The league table as Cricket Switzerland scores it, with bonus points and net run rate.
  • Hat-tricks, six sixes in an over and century stands, which need ball-by-ball data we leave to your scorer.

Asked over tea.

Is benchli a scoring app?

No. It doesn't score ball by ball or run a live scorecard. Keep your scorer. benchli runs everything around the match and keeps each player's totals.

Does it work for our league's format?

You put in your own fixtures and results, whether the league plays 45 overs, 40 overs, T20 or T10. benchli doesn't apply overs rules, bonus points or a rain-affected result.

How many players can we pick?

A match squad of 11 to 15, each with a role: opening, top-order or middle-order batter, keeper, all-rounder, spinner or pace bowler.

Can we record a tie?

Not as a tie. A result goes in as runs for each side, so level scores show as a draw, and a no-result can't be entered today.

Does it work out batting and bowling averages?

No. Strike rate and economy are worked out for you, but an average needs not-outs and dismissals, and benchli doesn't record those.
