The rink hockey week

Two periods of twenty-five, and a week around them.

A match is fifty minutes of playing time and a week of messages around it. Here's the week.

THE SHEET

Count the ten

A match report holds ten names. Yes, maybe and no come in early in the week, not on the way to the rink.

FIRST PERIOD

Find your keeper

Goalkeeper is a position on the roster. See who can go in net before you worry about the other four.

SECOND PERIOD

Enter the match

The final score, then goals, assists and saves, entered while the match is still fresh.

EXTRA TIME

Your keeper has a cold

Put the call out to players looking for a game, instead of ringing every keeper you know.

Cards, goals and saves

Blue cards, red cards and the goals in between.

Players get goals, assists, points, shots and shooting percentage, plus blue and red cards. Goalkeepers have their own record: saves, goals against, save percentage and shutouts.

Years of rink hockey and nothing to show for it but worn-out wheels?

Double digits deserve a record.

Once a match is entered, benchli will spot the big nights, tell the team and pin them to the player's card. Roller hockey moments, from the hat trick to the goalkeeper who scores.

NotableHat trickThree goals in a game. Someone will bring it up all season.
RareGoalkeeper shutoutThe keeper's match ends with nothing conceded.
RareDouble digitsThe team scores ten or more in one match.
LegendaryGoalkeeper goalA keeper scores. The rules let the keeper take the penalty or the direct free hit, so it can happen.
The roller hockey notebook

Blue cards, a keeper and no midfield.

Cards, a keeper and a Swiss league that counts points its own way. What's in, and what isn't.

Already on the rink

  • Set up as rink hockey: two periods of twenty-five minutes, fifty in all, and a match sheet of five to ten players.
  • Goalkeeper, defender and forward, and nothing else. There is no midfield in this game, so there isn't one in the list.
  • Blue and red cards have counters of their own, because rink hockey punishes with cards.
  • Goalkeepers are kept apart from skaters: saves and goals against, with save percentage worked out from the season's totals and the shutout shown as SO.
  • League points the World Skate way: 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss.
  • Stats under the headings a scorer expects: Scoring, Attack, Goalkeeping, Discipline, General.

Still off the rink

  • Swiss league points: three for a win, two for winning in extra time or on penalties, one for losing that way. The table scores wins, draws and losses only.
  • Yellow cards, which the current World Skate rules record on the match report. Blue and red are counted, yellow isn't.
  • Goals and saves from penalties and direct free hits, and from the penalty shootout, counted per player.
  • The score by period and the order of the goals, which a big comeback and a last-minute winner need.
  • A match sheet for inline hockey, which allows up to fourteen skaters and two goalkeepers.

Common questions

Is this for rink hockey or inline hockey?

Rink hockey. The defaults are two periods of twenty-five minutes and a match sheet of up to ten. Inline teams still get availability, rosters, the schedule and the goal, assist and save stats, but the defaults are rink hockey's.

Does it count blue and red cards?

Yes, per player, as cards. Yellow cards aren't counted yet, and penalty minutes are there if your club keeps them.

Does it work out the goalkeeper's save percentage?

Yes. Enter saves and goals against for each match and the percentage follows, built from the season's totals rather than an average of averages.

Are assists official in rink hockey?

Not on the official match report. benchli keeps them for your own record, so you can count them or leave them blank.

My league wants a reserve goalkeeper. Can I see who's covered?

Yes. Each game lists who's in, who's a maybe and who's out, and goalkeeper is a position on the roster. World Skate rules ask for two goalkeepers on the sheet; the Swiss federation asks for a reserve only in the top league.
